Instructor: Marc-Anthony Massaro; For intermediate and advanced painting students. The “Pop Art” portrait can be a very liberating experience for anyone who has drawn or painted conventional sized portraits. This course will explore the techniques and compositional challenges of painting a face 18”. 24”, even 36” in height and width. At this size the face becomes like a monumental landscape. Students will pick their own subjects and prepare the execution of the portrait by using a grid or an opaque projector to develop the techniques and a comfort level for working on such a large scale, students will be limited to working in monochromatic i.e. sepia, grey values or one selected color using white to create transitional value. The instructor will demo on technique through the course. The end result for the student taking this course is the creation of a very bold statement in portraiture. 4 Saturdays, Nov 19th & 26th, Dec 3rd & 10th , 10:00am-1:00pm, $150

·          Note: Mandatory preparation classes will be held on Friday Nov 11th  @ 6:30 pm For students to use Opaque projector.
