Basic Drawing:
Instructor: Marc Anthony Massaro; Drawing skill is
the foundation of every artist. This
course covers the understanding of basic shapes (cones, cubes, spheres, cylinders)
and how they are applied to drawing all things in nature. Composition, proportion and perspective is addressed
and applied to basic studies in still life, landscape and the human figure.
This basic course is the starting point to develop confident drawing
skill that can be applied to all color mediums:
oil painting, pastels, watercolor, etc. 8 Tuesdays,
*Open Studio* Drawing, Painting & Sculpture:
Instructor: Marc-Anthony Massaro; For
intermediate and advanced students. This
is a workshop atmosphere for students to work in the medium of their choice
drawing, painting, pastels with the inclusion of intermediate and advanced
sculpture students. Due to the workspace
constrictions, this class is limited to 10 students. Sculpture students should
call to inquire about the types of materials permitted.

OIL PAINTING:
Beginning Oil Painting:

Beginning
students learn the fundamentals of oil painting: how to mix color, develop
techniques and composition through still life and landscape studies. Beginning
students must have basic drawing level skills to take this course.

Intermediate
and Advanced Oil Painting:
Instructor: Marc-Anthony Massaro;
in oil painting. This
course is for students who have Intermediate & advanced skill levels and
wish to advance to a higher skill level in the oil painting medium.
Intermediate and advanced painting students will further develop their skills
in technique and composition by developing their own subject matter with the
individual guidance of the instructor. The instructor gives individual
attention to each student to aid in the development of technique, composition,
and color theory. Students develop
in-class projects as well as independent projects based on subject matter of
their choice.

Watercolor for Beginners and Continuing:
Instructor: Jody Lynn; This introductory course is designed
to teach the fundamentals of the watercolor medium. Students will learn step
by step how to mix and combine colors using a limited palette. Get tips on paper, brushes,

Mixed Media Colored Pencil:
Instructor: Jean Galli; This course is designed for
beginner, intermediate and advanced students. The combination of different mediums is quite common in the art world, and
can produce exciting and dynamic images. This course will show students the
basics of colored pencils over markers and/or water based mediums (acrylics,
watercolor). Each student will select a subject they want to render using
mixed media in order to understand how to combine the different mediums. Course
directed toward intermediate and advanced students with some experience
using mixed media. Call

Color Theory
Workshop:
Instructor: Marc-Anthony Massaro; A must for
all art students, this course covers the understanding of color interaction
and mixing. The instructor lectures on the workings of the color wheel, value,
intensity and hue, and the elements contained in the color spectrum. Paint
manufacturers often label colors with conflicting and confusing names often
misunderstood by students. The instructor extensively explains the names of
colors and their content. Materials: Bring a pad and pencil for extensive

Painting Oversized Portraits:
FUN & CHALLENGING!
Instructor:
Marc-Anthony Massaro; For
intermediate and advanced painting students. The Pop Art portrait can be
a very liberating experience for anyone who has drawn or painted conventional
sized portraits. This course will explore the techniques and compositional
challenges of painting a face 18. 24, even 36 in height
and width. At this size the face becomes like a monumental landscape.
Students will pick their own subjects and prepare the execution of the portrait
by using a grid or an opaque projector to develop the techniques and a comfort
level for working on such a large scale, students will be limited to working
in monochromatic i.e. sepia, grey values or one selected color using white
to create transitional value. The instructor will demo on technique through

BRANFORD ART STUDIO is primarily an
ADULT curriculum. Students participating in any course must be at least 18
years or older. However, high school students in their Junior and Senior year
may qualify for special classes designed to prepare for college entry. High
